I can’t recommend upgrading to High Sierra if you’re not running Lightroom 6.14, Lightroom CC 2015.14 or Lightroom Classic. In that section she says ".there are some known issues, as well as a bunch of reported crashes. For reference, there are several other incompatibilities with Lightroom 4 under Sierra and High Sierra, listed here: Lightroom and macOS High Sierra Compatibility (scroll down to "Older Lightroom Versions"). I had no issues at all until the ver 7.1 upgrade. I then upgraded to High Sierra, and it was fractionally better but it still crashes frequently. When moving forward so many releases, it's a good idea to research the compatibility of the application versions you have, before upgrading. Hi,when I upgraded LR CC Classic to Ver 7.1 on Sierra/Mac it started repeatedly crashing whenever I moved sliders in the Develop module. Yosemite may work fine, but the three major macOS upgrades since Yosemite gave Apple a lot of time to make a lot of underlying changes to the system that could affect application compatibility. The Adobe programme has always worked perfectly on Yosemite. Having purchased Lightroom 4.3, albeit many years ago, I was of course interested in continued use as I had no idea High Sierrra would create problems.
